Frequently Asked Questions.

How long does floor sanding & polishing take?

The time taken all depends on the size of the job (square meter), the state of the timber (new or old) and the time of the year. The weather can greatly affect the drying time.

How often do I need to resurface my timber floors?

As a guide, I would suggest every 10-15 years. However, each floor is different and some may require resurfacing a lot sooner due to frequent foot traffic. On the other hand, some floors may be able to wait beyond the 15 year benchmark. A more accurate recommendation can be provided upon examining your floors.

Before our floors are sanded, what do we need to do?

I would suggest that all furniture that resides in the space is removed. This will ensure that there is no inconsistency in the finish as we won’t have to polish around furniture.

How long before I am able to walk on my floors?

Generally speaking, I would avoid walking on you floors for at least 24 hours. If walking on the floors cannot be avoided, try to do so without shoes. Shoes pick up grit and can be transferred onto your fresh floors, causing it to settle into the finish.

How long before I can move my furniture back?

When returning furniture back to the space, I would wait at least 72 hours. We recommend that all furniture be carried and placed as dragging furniture can scratch the floors.

Does floor sanding create a lot of dust?

Due to the nature of sanding, it is impossible to completely eliminate dust. However, our machinery does collect dust as we work and thorough vacuuming takes place before and after.

Do we need to vacate our property?

In most cases, yes. However it really depends on the layout of your house and what service you require. Certain chemicals used can be harmful if inhaled so it is normally a case by case basis. A recommendation can be provided upon consultation.
